Here are some thoughts about my experience of our friendship...
When I first met Kristine, about twelve years ago, I was immediately struck by her depth and focus. Even before she spoke, I had a profound sense of her presence, a feeling that has confirmed itself over the years. Even when we're laughing, I can feel how passionate she is in her convictions. The biggest revelation was the first time I had the privilege of hearing her improvise with her cello. I have rarely experienced such an profound response to live music making. The sound of an instrument I've always loved allied with her spectacular voice transported me into another realm of being - my breathing changed, my heart beat faster and my usual visceral sensations heightened. And I realised I was being healed - her shamanic ability to speak to my emotions and wellbeing was astonishing. It wasn't only the sounds she produced - she seemed also to be in a trance, transferring her soul into sound, and transcending time and place. And this happened every time she played and sang. For me she is a healer, and also a bringer of new sensibilities. I can imagine her treating people with her amazing gift. She is also kind and emotionally generous. My greatest wish would be for her to be a shamanic healer, but
I understand that that's a deeply subjective desire. She brought depth and new understanding into my life, and can only imagine the difference she could make in the life of others.
